Towards Wholeness

Psychotherapy to connect Mind, Body and Spirit

Meet Anna

Welcome, I'm glad you are here! Let's face it, life can be tough and despite all our efforts to convince everyone (and even ourselves) that we are fine, we might actually be experiencing a range of emotions such as anxiety, depression, grief, stress and loneliness.   Humans were not designed to heal in isolation - humans heal together.

When we finally have the courage to face our fears, they tend to lose their power over us and we can find our way with greater peace and calm. You don't have to do this alone.

Let's explore your real story, the parts that no-one usually gets to see.

I will accompany you on your journey towards wholeness.

Meet Anna

I enjoy working with people who are interested in getting to know themselves on a deeper level, and who are committed to the therapeutic journey.  My approach is calm, kind and respectful, and I will work with you to discover the barriers and blocks that are holding you back from living life as you want to.

I am a psychotherapist trained in Hakomi, a mindful, somatic (body-based) approach to healing. Soma is another word for body!  I also hold qualifications in Social Work and Early Childhood education.  I love music, reading and spending time in my garden (especially planting!) As someone who cares deeply about people and our planet, I am also a Warrior for the Human Spirit (Margaret Wheatley).

I have two adult children, from whom I am always learning.

What is Hakomi?

Hakomi is a mind-body-spirit approach to therapy that draws from Eastern and Western traditions, as well as modern neuroscience.  It is a non-violent modality that is deeply respectful of your process.  During an in-person Hakomi session with Anna, you will sit on a couch or comfy chair.  Anna will invite you to share what it is in your life right now that you are wanting support with, before guiding you to explore this more deeply in a mindful state, always checking in to see how what is being spoken of is experienced in your body.

This, combined with other tools and techniques, can allow deep and lasting healing to occur.  You may be surprised to know that Hakomi is also effective online.

If you would like to read more about the Hakomi method, you can do so here.

Why Naturopathy

What can Hakomi help with?

Among other things, it can help with

Anxiety and Depression

Creating a sense of trust and safety, we allow all feelings and sensations to be present, without judgement. Usually they have very good reasons for being there.

Embodiment

Many of us have been taught to value our intellect above all else.  We often forget that we have a body that holds its own wisdom and has its own memories of all the things that have happened to us. Sometimes we hold aches and pains that seem mysterious to us, these are sometimes deeply rooted in experiences from childhood or other traumatic events in life.

Stress

Getting to know your system, we find out where the stress comes from and how it shows up in your body.

Trauma

Most of us have experienced some kind of trauma in our lives that has often left us in a fight, flight, freeze or collapse state.  Sometimes we are not even aware of the effects trauma has had on us.  Not having our needs met as children can profoundly influence how we show up as adults.

Life Transitions

Sometimes it's helpful to have someone to talk to and walk side by side with us through life transitions.

Self Esteem

We can look back at how our self image was formed and understand why we show up in the ways we do.
